⚠️Failure to Notify the DPO to the Supervisory Authority

📍 Following a complaint, the Hamburg Data Protection Authority imposed a €51,000 fine on Facebook Germany.

💼 Reason: The company had appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO), but failed to officially notify the regulator of the designation.

📜 Breach of Article 37(7) of the GDPR:

"The controller or the processor shall publish the contact details of the data protection officer and communicate them to the supervisory authority."

👉 A DPO only officially holds their status once their appointment has been notified to the supervisory authority by the employer.
